Abstract
Arsenic in food chain is a global public health issue. Arsenic in food chain and water and environment does not discriminate between developed and underdeveloped countries. The problems have been faced by countries from USA to Italy to Bangladesh and many South Asian countries. The pattern of getting Arsenic into drinking or irrigation water is one of the major sources to get the presence of Arsenic in the food chain. Unless there are concentrated and collaborative efforts involving healthcare workers, healthcare professionals like physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and clinical social workers with support of government agencies and an intensive effort to educate people about Arsenic and its adverse effects, humanity cannot be saved form this menace. Due to the collapse of the world into a small village, Arsenic in food chain in Asia will affect the health of Europeans and Americans who are importing food grains from these countries. Hence, there is a need for global collaboration to resolve this problem. The technology needs to be shared on a global level to reduce the impact of this problem. Pharmacist is the first person who comes in contact with the patients suffering from Arsenic poisoning and enhancing the role of Pharmacist and empowering him with training in treating the arsenic poisoning will reduce the severity of this menace.
