Biography
Debprasad Chattopadhyay is the Scientist G & Director of ICMR-National Institute of Traditional Medicine, Belagavi, Karnataka. His research field includes Ethnomedicine, Ethnopharmacology and Virology. He has extensively studied the Ethnomedicinal practices of diverse Communities of India to unveil the scientific rationality of traditional medicines through documentation and validation at molecular level. His work yielded seven patents, three leads and 105 publications in peer-reviewed prestigious Journals. He is the Reviewer of 40+ peer-reviewed Journals and is in the Editorial Board of 4 International Journals; Examiner, Ph D Guide and visiting Faculty of several Universities. He is the recipient of the International Society for Chemotherapy, Dr RV Rajam Endowment, DST Science Communicator, Outstanding Ethnopharmacologist Award, and the Fellow of British Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy. Dr Chattopadhyay handles several National Task Force Projects related to Traditional Medicines of marginalized communities and is the Member of Review and Approval Committee of Govt Funding Agencies.
