Track 14: Bioethics
Bioethics is the study of ethical issues arising from advances in biology, medicine, and technology. It provides a discussion of the moral insight of society and often relates to a wide range of issues such as the environment and well-being, as well as health care policies and practices. Bioethics deals with ethical issues arising from the relationships between life sciences, biotechnology, medicine, politics, law, theology, and philosophy. This includes research in primary care, other medical disciplines, scientific ethics education, animal ethics, and values related to the environment. Ethics are related to many sciences other than biology, and bioethics is also considered as a new ethic that answers complex questions in modern society.
Bioethics started as an interdisciplinary field of research, but has now become a full-fledged discipline in its own right. Bioethics will continue to grow and become more important as technology advances at a faster rate than ever before and the challenges associated with implementation become more complex.
